PROJECT BRIEF

In August 2017, Hurricane Harvey hit Texas; the City of Houston/Harris County and 49 additional counties were damaged in its path. Vendors in these areas are submitting Tier II Environmental Review Records (ERRs) for proposed housing recovery projects to the GLO. The QA/QC process consists of a two-layer review, including a peer-to-peer review to ensure accuracy.

NERIS’ responsibilities include verifying Project Locations, confirming compliance with U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and State Requirements, and ensuring that the environmental determinations are accurately reflected in the ERRs. By developing and implementing practical and effective environmental policies, NERIS’ team seeks to expedite the disaster recovery process. In some instances, archaeology and/or architectural historian field studies, wetland delineations, and/or toxic and hazardous sites must be analyzed for accuracy. NERIS utilizes ArcGIS to analyze maps prior to verifying the work performed meets environmental site conditions placed upon the project.
