PROJECT BRIEF

The New York City School Construction Authority (SCA) overseas the design and construction of NYC public schools. One of the initiatives is the 3-K program which aims to provides free, full day, high quality early childhood education for three-year-old children. The 3-K Center #Q399 is part of the SCA Capital Improvement Program focused on improving existing facilities in an effort to provide safe and comfortable learning environments which helps to maximize every student’s opportunity to learn.

The Q399 project seeks to renovate an existing three-story commercial building and upgrade it to a modern 3-K early childhood facility. Upgrades include full interior demolition and renovation with code and ADA compliant spaces, egress, and classrooms. Outside play spaces will also be renovated along with full mechanical and plumbing upgrades

In addition to the DOB General Construction filings, NERIS is responsible for subsequent mechanical, plumbing, structural, Builders Pavement Plans (BPP), and Fire Alarm FDNY filings.

The NERIS team works closely with the Design team to review building & zoning code compliance related to the change of occupancy. Throughout the design and permitting phase, NERIS participates in required inter-agency meetings, DOB meetings, and assisted in developing permitting strategies to ensure that the project meets deadlines. The NERIS team is very excited to work this project.
