PROJECT BRIEF

The New York City Housing Authority’s (NYCHA) public housing is the largest in North America, consisting of 178,557 apartments and serves more than 403,000 authorized residents. 615,199 New Yorkers reside in NYCHA Public Housing and Section 8 Programs. The Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (ID/IQ) projects include capital categories, from building exteriors and systems to major renovations and security improvements.

NYCHA building exterior improvements will include structural repair, renovation, and rehabilitation of brick facades, walls, roofs, windows, fire escapes, balconies, terraces, stairs, ramps, retaining walls, and landscape structures. Building system upgrades will cover foundations, structural framing, building entrances, plumbing systems, electrical and security systems, HVAC systems, boilers, compactors, roof tanks, and elevators. New construction and major renovations will include community centers, day care centers, youth centers, senior centers, and commercial spaces. Site and security improvements will include upgrades of exterior compactors, exterior light systems, CCTV systems, underground fuel oil tank removal or replacement, and grounds restoration including playgrounds, ramps, and underground utilities upgrades.

NERIS is contracted to provide expediting services to file all necessary work permits for the community center renovation throughout the entire project and to obtain all approvals from regulatory agencies including the Department of Buildings, Department of Environmental Protection, Department of Transportation, Metropolitan Transit Authority, Department of Environmental Conservation, and the Fire Department of New York. The Team will coordinate with special inspection agencies for filing requirements while securing sign-off of open applications. NERIS will assist with addressing non-compliance issues with governmental agencies and obtain Temporary and Final Certificate of Occupancy as required on schedule.
